Devoted to Carbon

you’re a brazen hoax
sanded by forethought,
dimming this reflection,
leaving me

faceless.

the visual is just that–
the visual is translucent,

distrait, posing
as sin. my corpse
is dismissed

by your breath.
your breath–

my influence,

a devotion
to carbon,

to my rot,
to your dark
and this deep.

exhale into me.

*this is a redo of my last poem I took down, “devotions are better left in the dark.” I didn’t like it… So I redid it…
