Tile the apse in stollen glitter
From the dryad out in Athens.
Charms fill the room and dangle,
Dripping sterling silver around her wrist;
A trade-mark sound.
She conducts in silence through evil eyes
That don’t work in the night.
Shrinking her heart so pupils can dilate
Before the alter of men.
Ah, men.
