I Burn

Experiment with your fears;
             The loss is loathing
             And the heart has sunken in ashes,
                                         Left muddied.
I outline my eyes
             And drag the charcoal along my lashes,
                                         Drawing—
Drawing them in
             Like moths to a flame,
             Mistaking my gaze for the moon again.
Disappointments are left blistered on the sheets.
I seared my initials on the long of your neck.
A fiery passion shouldn’t leave such a mark.
             How long can you take the heat?
